Heavy rain fell between 21 and 28 November 2019 including one day when there was the equivalent of two years worth of rain!
11 people (including 7 children) lost their lives due to the flooding and a resultant landslide.
Some 250,000 people have been affected throughout the country and 150,000 (including migrants and refugees) are in need of immediate humanitarian assistance.
In Djibouti City alone, 200,000 people (21% of the total population) have been affected and 120,000 are in need of emergency assistance.

Response
The government put into place its relief plans. They have worked and continue to work with the UN and NGOs to address the resultant problems that affected sanitation, food security, non-food commodities/shelter and health.
Slowly life is getting back to normal but there are still many weeks of hard work to repair all the damage and to ensure the risk of water-borne diseases is kept low.
Please pray
For the many people who have lost homes, employment and family members that they will continue to be able to access emergency help, and will soon recover their energy, will power and the necessary support to rebuild their lives.
For those working hard to provide support and encouragement that they will find fresh reserves of energy and determination each day so that they can continue. And that they will have wisdom and insight to decide where and how to focus their work.
That God will look kindly on those who are suffering and be merciful and compassionate toward them.
