About

We are Kerith Trust.

We are a registered UK charity that raises funds to support charitable relief work in the country of Djibouti in association with MMR a Djibouti-based charity.

KT is a new charity (founded in 2017) that has a limited but clear vision to enable disadvantaged residents of other countries to achieve their potential.

Our focus, for now at least, is on Djibouti.  Djibouti, at the Horn of Africa, has recently graduated to low-middle-income country status.  Despite recent economic growth, poverty is rated at 79 %, with 42% of the population living in extreme poverty.  90% of food needs to be imported. Nevertheless, it is secure, safe and peaceful and welcomes assistance to cope with its range of social problems.

MMR is a Djiboutian organisation founded in 1974 as a development from a project that set in writing the Afar language that previously had only an oral form.  Building on that pioneering project enabled MMR to establish a good reputation so it continues to have a place of honour in the culture of Djibouti. Since 1974 it has undertaken a number of projects though the most valued and effective project is the provision of language studies.
