EELC Refurbishment

The Centre

Emmanuel English Library Centre (EELC) is situated in a strategic central location in Djibouti City where thousands of Djiboutians have learned English. It has an excellent reputation.

The Need

    • Because of the humid climate the building needs to be painted at least every two years. Over the past year the paint has peeled off in many places both internally and externally.
    • In June 2019 a nine year old air conditioner that had been repaired several times stopped working and is beyond repair. It is located in the teacher’s office and especially in Sept/Oct and April/May it is very difficult to work in that office without air conditioning.
    • A bathroom door needs to be replaced.

Broken Loo door

The refurbishment needs to be completed by 25th September 2019 ready for the new term.

Funding need

The centre is funded by student fees but because of reduced staff this academic year (from September 2019) fewer classes than normal can be provided, hence there will be less income available to replenish reserves after paying for this refurbishment.  External funding is  required.

KT involvement

KT was able to supply the necessary funds from existing resources.
