School Restarts!

EELC school and library are open again after the premature and prolonged summer closure because of Covid-19!

Djibouti has had 5,605 Coronavirus cases and 61 deaths since the pandemic arrived in March. New cases, maybe up to 10/day, continue to occur but there is no pattern and there have been no deaths since 10th September.

Thank you LORD God for answering our prayers.

Life is getting back to normal. However, to stay safe, there are still precautionary regulations to follow, such as a maximum 15 people in a closed area and social distancing to maintain.

But classes and conversations can now take place!

Almost 30 people are attending each of the Conversation Classes on Tuesday evening which means they have had to be split into two separate classes.

Classes have been arranged for those who need to finish last year’s curtailed English programmes at Level 2 & 3. Because the Course ended in March they missed the last two months. Now they are revising and completing the last few modules. The term will end in December.

The most advanced Course held at EELC is for Level 4 students. They have caught up with their studies and celebrated Graduation on 7th November.  These students have been studying English for more than 3 years to get to this place. What an accomplishment!

The Coffee Lounge has reopened for conversation on Monday mornings for everyone and on Thursday mornings for women only.

New arrangements for organizing the School are being prepared for 2020. These were mentioned in Fund one-year supply of English textbooks.

And O yes! The books did arrive safely and sufficient funds were received!

EELC is up and running again.

Most students have returned.

There is a happy and positive atmosphere.

There is much to be thankful for.
